PEARL Privacy and Data Protection

PEARL Data Protection

Data protection and data security in the PEARL Online Shop

PEARL has a high priority. For this reason, it is a matter of course that we strictly adhere to the legal requirements when collecting, processing and using personal data.

We process and use our customers' personal data for order processing, maintaining customer relations and advertising purposes. Service providers commissioned by PEARL only receive customer data within the scope of order management to the extent that this is necessary for the performance of the services. Other trading companies and telecommunication service providers are provided with customer data for one-time use for advertising within the permitted parameters of data protection law. You can object to your data being passed on for advertising at any time. To do so, please send us a message by e-mail, fax, post or telephone.

Every customer has the right to object to receiving PEARL product information by post at any time. Until we receive the objection, the customer agrees to receive product information by post. Please send us a message if you no longer wish to receive advertising by post. The same applies if you have further information, suggestions or questions.

Every customer has the right to request information from our company about what personal data has been stored by our company, its origin, the recipients or categories of recipients to whom the data has been passed on, and the storage purpose. Every customer has the right to have this data corrected, blocked or deleted, if necessary. The information will be provided in text form upon request unless another form of communication is appropriate due to the particular circumstances. Disclosure is free of charge.

If we make advance payments, e.g. in the case of a purchase on invoice, we may request a credit report based on mathematical and statistical methods to protect our legitimate interests.

The credit report may contain probability values (score values) calculated based on scientifically recognised mathematical-statistical procedures, including address data in their calculation. Your sensitive data will be taken into account per the legal provisions.

Data security

In principle, you can visit our online shop without leaving any personal data. However, in some cases, we need information from you:

  • when placing orders,
  • for competitions,
  • when you use our KeyGarant services (key loss),
  • when you contact us.

Modern encryption techniques protect customers when transferring personal data upon registration. We use SSL encryption (Secure Socket Layer), one of the safest and most common methods on the Internet: The SSL process protects all data sent by our customers via the Internet to our company's server during and after login. SSL provides threefold protection: the entries are transmitted in encrypted form, the form is only sent to the server from which it originates, and the data is checked for completeness and integrity. Learn more about PEARL security.

Within the scope of using our KeyGarant services, we collect your name, postal address and e-mail address to return the recovered key ring to the postal address you have provided and for billing purposes, insofar as we do not already have this data through an existing customer relationship. In returning the found bunch of keys, we use personal data to the extent that we send the key ring by post and, if necessary, invoice you for this service under our general terms and conditions.

We use cookies on various pages to make browsing our website more attractive and to enable the use of certain functions. These are small text files that are stored on your computer. Most cookies we use are deleted from your hard drive at the end of the browser session (so-called session cookies). Other cookies remain on your computer and enable us to recognise your computer upon your next visit (so-called permanent cookies). Our partner companies are not permitted to collect, process or use personal data through cookies via our website.

If you register for the newsletter, your e-mail address will be used for our advertising purposes until you unsubscribe from the newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time.

Information on Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc ("Google"). Google Analytics uses "cookies", text files placed on your computer, to help the website analyse how users use the site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is usually transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there. If IP anonymisation is activated on this website, however, your IP address will be truncated beforehand by Google within member states of the European Union or in other contracting states to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the website, compiling reports on website activity and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage to the website operator. The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics will not be merged with other Google data. You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser; however, please note that if you do this, you may not be able to use the full functionality of this website. You can also prevent the collection of data generated by the cookie and related to your use of the website (including your IP address) by Google and the processing of this data by Google by downloading and installing the browser plugin available at the following link.

Use of analytic tools

When you visit our online shop, the system collects and stores data for marketing and optimisation purposes. Anonymous shop usage profiles are created from this data without linking it to personal data. Cookies or other comparable techniques may be used for this purpose. The data collected this way is not used to identify the visitor to the online shop personally.

Use of Facebook Social Plugins

This website uses so-called social plug-ins ("plug-ins") from the social network Facebook, operated by Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA ("Facebook"). The plug-ins are marked with a Facebook logo or the addition "Social Plug-in from Facebook" or "Facebook Social Plugin". You can find an overview of the Facebook plug-ins and their appearance here: http://developers.facebook.com/plugins.

When you open a page of our website containing such a plug-in, your browser establishes a direct connection to the Facebook servers. The plug-in's content is transmitted by Facebook directly to your browser, which integrates it into the website.

Facebook receives the information that your browser has accessed on the corresponding page of our website through the integration of the plug-in, even if you do not own a Facebook account or are not currently logged in to Facebook. This information (including your IP address) is transmitted by your browser directly to a Facebook server in the USA and stored there.

If you are logged in to Facebook, Facebook can assign your visit to our website directly to your Facebook account. If you interact with the plug-ins, for example, by clicking the "Like" button or posting a comment, the corresponding information is transmitted directly to a Facebook server and stored there. The data is also published on Facebook and displayed to your Facebook friends.

Facebook may use this information for advertising, market research and the needs-based design of Facebook pages. For this purpose, Facebook creates usage, interest and relationship profiles, e.g. to evaluate your use of our website concerning the advertisements displayed to you on Facebook, to inform other Facebook users about your activities on our website and to provide other services associated with the use of Facebook.

If you do not want Facebook to assign the data collected via our website to your Facebook account, you must log out of Facebook before visiting our website.

For the purpose and scope of the data collection and the further processing and use of the data by Facebook, as well as your rights in this regard and setting options for protecting your privacy, please refer to Facebook's privacy policy.

Marketing

After completing the order process, we offer you special offers from the network of our partner Sovendus. Sovendus is a network through which providers (e.g. publishers and product providers) can post special offers and distribute them to their customers. To select an advantage offer that is currently of interest to you regionally, we transmit your title, year of birth, country, postcode, the hash value of the e-mail address and your IP address to Sovendus GmbH, Hermann-Veit-Str. 6, 76135 Karlsruhe (Sovendus) in pseudonymised and encrypted form (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f DSGVO). Sovendus also use the pseudonymised hash value of the e-mail address to take into account any objection to advertising (Art. 21 (3), Art. 6 (1) (c) DSGVO). The IP address is used by Sovendus exclusively for data security purposes and is usually made anonymous after seven days (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f DSGVO). When you order a special offer, we also transmit your name, address data and e-mail address to Sovendus in encrypted form (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b, Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f DSGVO).

Trusted Shops Trustbadge

This website includes the Trusted Shops Trustbadge to display our Trusted Shops seal of approval and any ratings collected, as well as to offer Trusted Shops products to buyers after they have placed an order.

This protects our legitimate interests in optimal marketing by enabling secure shopping per Art. 6 Para. 1 S. 1 lit. f DSGVO, which prevails in the context of a balancing of interests. The trust badge and the services advertised with it are an offer of Trusted Shops GmbH, Subbelrather Str. 15C, 50823 Cologne. The Trustbadge is provided by a CDN provider (Content Delivery Network) within the framework of order processing. Trusted Shops GmbH also uses service providers from the USA. An appropriate level of data protection is ensured. Further information on the data protection of Trusted Shops GmbH can be found in the data protection declaration of Trusted Shops GmbH.

When the Trustbadge is called up, the web server automatically saves a so-called server log file, which also contains your IP address, the date and time of the call-up, the amount of data transferred and the requesting provider (access data) and documents the call-up. Individual access data are stored in a secure database to analyse security anomalies. The log files are deleted at the latest 90 days after creation.

If you decide to use Trusted Shops products after completing an order or if you have already registered for the use of Trusted Shops products, further personal data will be transferred to Trusted Shops GmbH. The contractual agreement between you and Trusted Shops applies. For this purpose, personal data is automatically collected from the order data. A neutral parameter checks by cryptological one-way hashing of the e-mail address, whether you are already registered for product use as a buyer. Before it is transmitted, the e-mail address is converted into this hash value, which Trusted Shops cannot decrypt. After checking for a match, the parameter is automatically deleted.

This is necessary to fulfil our and Trusted Shops' overriding legitimate interests in the provision of the buyer protection linked to the specific order in every case and the transactional evaluation services per Art. 6 para. 1 p. 1 lit. f DSGVO. Further details, including the objection, can be found in the Trusted Shops privacy policy linked above and in the Trustbadge.
